In-depth Exploration of Mallorca

It’s the quintessential Mediterranean island experience with a mix of folk heritage, Sunday markets, secret coves, and a living countryside that reminds us to slow down and appreciate the simple joys in life. Living in Mallorca has taught me to pause, to breathe and to notice nature’s elegance. Start with Palma, a city that never ceases to amaze and surprise travelers, head to the countryside and stay at an agricultural estate, and finish off with a mountain village or a seaside home.

Palma

Palma de Mallorca is a great city to start with on the island because it will surprise you with its stunning coastline and lively cultural scene. The city's crown jewel is the magnificent Gothic-style La Seu Cathedral, which offers breathtaking views of the Mediterranean sea. Explore the old town with its narrow streets, massive plazas, and eclectic architecture, including the Royal Palace of La Almudaina. Palma’s port is an ideal dinner plan with a variety of excellent restaurants. The art museums are not to be missed as well as the UNESCO historic sites within the city walls. This is where you can shop ‘till you drop and step into boutique galleries for some unique art pieces.

Pollença

Whether you’re visiting on a Sunday market day or staying for a couple nights, Pollença is absolutely stunning and perfectly located next to some of the best ports and beaches of the island. Located in the northern part of Mallorca, it has narrow cobblestone streets that lead to the central Plaça Major, where you can find the beautiful 18th-century Our Lady of the Angels Church. The town is famous for the 365-step Calvari staircase, culminating in a small chapel with panoramic views of the surrounding area. Nearby, the Port de Pollença offers beautiful beaches and a scenic harbor, making Pollença a perfect blend of cultural heritage and natural beauty.

Valldemossa

Although there is so much more to Mallorca than these three locals, Valldemossa cannot go unlisted. This was rated the most beautiful village in the world in 2024… It’s a stunning little town in the Serra de Tramuntana mountains, renowned for its Royal Charterhouse – a former monastery where composer Frédéric Chopin and writer George Sand spent the winter of 1838-39. Wander through its narrow, cobblestone streets lined with stone houses adorned with vibrant flower pots and art. Valldemossa also offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, and pairs well with a visit to Deia and other regions of Mallorca that you cannot miss.
